About the Owner
I’m Cailin Smith, the owner and founder of Spotlight Studio. My love of theater began at just four years old, when a small community Christmas play first sparked the magic for me. From acting in Cinderella at six, the stage has always been my second home. The rush of stepping into the spotlight never really leaves you—and I created Spotlight Studio so every child can experience that same joy.
As a mom of six and a former foster parent, I’ve seen firsthand how vital it is for children to feel accepted and valued. My three years of work in child welfare and social work deepened my understanding of the importance of safe, welcoming spaces for kids to thrive. That experience drives our trauma-informed approach, ensuring no child feels invisible or left behind.
Spotlight Studio is a response to the growing gap in arts education caused by budget cuts across the state. Research shows that students who participate in the arts are more likely to graduate from college, less likely to be involved in crime, and contribute to healthier, stronger communities. In fact, every dollar invested in extracurricular arts programming saves money otherwise spent on social services.
Spotlight Studio is where creativity and collaboration meet in the spotlight - building confidence, connection, and lifelong skills for every child who walks through our doors.
