F A Q’ s
1. What is the rehearsal fee?
The rehearsal fee covers your child’s participation in rehearsals for the show. Rehearsals are 2 hours each week for four months. We do not charge a separate costume fee—everything needed for the performance is included.
2. Does my child have to audition?
Yes, auditions are a required part of the process. For musicals, your child will prepare a 1-minute song and read scenes with the director. For plays, they will prepare a 1-minute monologue. Specific audition details for each production can be found on our “Upcoming Shows” page.
3. What if my child doesn’t get a lead role?
Every child who auditions will be cast in the show! Roles are designed to help each student contribute and shine, building confidence and teamwork along the way. After auditions, the cast list will be emailed to families, and you’ll have the opportunity to review your child’s role and confirm their participation in the production.
4. Will my child get to take their costume home?
All costumes are the property of Spotlight Studio. To keep participation fees affordable, costumes are reused for future productions and are not sent home with students. Students will need to provide their own jazz shoes, tights (if required) and undershirts/shorts.
5. Who will be guiding my child?
All Spotlight Studio staff are fingerprinted and background-screened and have completed trauma-informed training based on the Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) curriculum. Our top priority is your child’s well-being and we are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for every student.
